There have been many documentaries made about the Arab-Israeli conflict, but what sets “The Green Prince” apart from the others is its intimate scale, the conflict seen almost as a family drama. The film centres on Mosab Hassan Yousef, son of Hamas leader Sheikh Hassan Yousef, who, amazingly, worked undercover for Israel in the Palestinian territories for over ten years. Yousef tells his story and we discover what motivated him and why he decided to stop spying. His testimony is also intercut with that of his Shin Bet (Israeli security service) handler Gonen Ben Yitzhak. A fascinating glimpse into the ambivalent world of espionage.
