When estate agent and relentless social climber Dino finally makes it into the social circle of the wealthy hedge-fund manager Giovanni Bernaschi he thinks life has taken a turn for the better. He invests a large sum of money in Giovanni’s fund, assured of a quick, lucrative profit. However, the global financial crisis is starting to kick in and his investment turns out to be a disaster. Meanwhile an investigation into a hit and run accident is underway, which we witness from the different perspectives of Dino, his daughter Serena and Giovanni’s wife Carla, all of whom being in some mysterious way involved. Cynically taking advantage of this tragic situation, Dino seizes upon a way of getting even with Giovanni… Both thriller and trenchant socio-political satire, “Human Capital” grips from beginning to end.
