In this gripping police procedural drama a real unsolved murder case from 2016 has been fictionalised by director Moll and screenwriter Gilles Marchand. The film depicts the police investigation of the brutal murder of a young woman in the Grenoble area. There is no shortage of plausible suspects. The victim, Clara, had a lot of boyfriends, some of them rather dubious, but all leads involving them are inconclusive. Their inability to solve the crime haunts and obsesses the investigators – newly appointed unit chief Vivès and veteran partner Marceau. However, the real issue may be one that is only beginning to be half grasped: that of the misogynistic preconceptions that some men, including policemen in male dominated forces, have about women. A gritty, thought provoking film that has gathered many awards.
