The film noir is reimagined in “Motel Destino” in a garish and pulsating neonscape under an unforgiving tropical sun. On the run from gangsters after the murder of his brother, Heraldo takes refuge in a remote motel, a haven for steamy sexual encounters. Owner Elias takes Heraldo under his wing and offers him a menial job, while letting him in on some of the motel’s sleazy secrets. In this hothouse atmosphere it is not long before Elias, his partner Dayana and Heraldo are in a passionate ménage à trois where loyalty and desire are dangerously entangled.
