Summer Season 2026

Inspired by the release this January of Nouvelle Vague, Richard Linklater’s tribute to Jean-Luc Godard and the making of Breathless, Lincoln Film Society brings a summer programme of New Wave films to the Terry O’Toole Theatre, North Hykeham.

Marked by low budgets, improvised dialogue and technical innovation, the New Wave brought cinema out of the studio to create a new style of filmmaking.

The programme:

May 22 – Cléo from 5 to 7 (1962): much-loved drama directed by Agnès Varda
Jun 5 – Le combat dans l’ile (1962): noirish drama directed by Alain Cavalier, starring Romy Schneider
Jun 12 – Jules et Jim (1962): classic love triangle story set around WWI – directed by François Truffaut
Jun 26 – Zazie dans le Métro (1960): anarchic comedy directed by Louis Malle

All screenings start at 7.30pm.

110 Spaces are available for the season at a cost of £17.50 for all four films. These summer season memberships will be bookable between April 3 and May 10 on a first-come, first-served basis. Please visit the Join LFS page for details on how to join.
