Socio-political satire, black comedy, anarchic thriller, “No Other Choice” is all these things! Set in contemporary South Korea, it centres on the character of Man-su and his murderous struggle to keep his family in the style to which they have grown accustomed. Right at the beginning of the film, before disaster strikes, we see him, together with his wife Mi-ri, their two children and two dogs in their idyllic dream home, living the good life. Man-su has worked for the Solar Paper company for 25 years, but is horrified when, following an American takeover, he loses his well-paid job. Despite Man-su’s best efforts at belt-tightening, it increasingly looks like their beloved house will have to be sold. But wait – a lucrative position at another papermaking company has become available. Man-su is determined to get it for himself, but first of all he will have to eliminate the opposition…
