Brothers Thibault and Jimmy are both adopted, but by different families. They know nothing of each other’s existence until Thibault, seriously ill and in need of a bone marrow transplant, discovers the truth. He decides to make contact with the brother he has never known and prepares to broach the thorny subject of the transplant. The two brothers seem to have little in common. Thibault has been brought up in a cultured family and is now a distinguished classical conductor, whereas Jimmy works in a factory and has no cultural pretensions. However, they do have one thing in common – music. Jimmy plays the trombone in a boisterous factory band, hardly the music that Thibault is used to, but nevertheless a connection is made, both musical and emotional. Furthermore, Thibault gradually comes to realise that his brother has real musical talent. Touching and heart-warming, “The Marching Band” is testimony to the power of music to break down barriers.

The film will be followed by a Christmas social.

We have organised a get-together at Union Bar (the student union bar across the road from The Venue, still inside the grounds of Lincoln Bishop University) to take place after our screening of Marching Band on 5th December. The film starts at the earlier than usual time of 7.15pm, and the social will start straight afterwards, at roughly 9pm, and run until 10.30pm.

A savoury and sweet buffet by Castiza will be provided, paid for by the society. Drinks will have to be purchased separately, at the bar. To minimise waiting in the Union Bar after the film, drinks can be preordered & paid for at The Venue bar (which won’t be selling drinks beforehand).

The social is for LFS members only. There’s a maximum capacity of 120 in the bar, which is why we’ve made this a ticketed event. Please book your place using Eventbrite by clicking this link to secure a place.

If you are attending and have any food allergies, please let us know by emailing lincolnfilmsociety@gmail.com

We hope to see you there.
