The Society normally reports to members at an Annual General Meeting in October. A face-to-face meeting was not possible this year due to restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 situation.
The Society’s rules say that the AGM should take place “just after the start of each new season”. As there has effectively been no season this year, the officers have decided to report to members via the website rather than attempt an online AGM.
Members will know that the managing committee have been discussing the future operating model of the Society in the light of the current disruption and the possibility of restrictions on audience numbers and reduced income from falling membership numbers. Should any substantial changes to the programming or membership model be proposed as a result of this exercise, members will have the opportunity to discuss and vote upon the changes at an Extraordinary General Meeting next year.
